We are here to help you help children regardless of their age or ability. Access to free resources means you can start helping the children in your life right away. Look for resources in the WSR shop and find a wealth of free instructional videos through the We Shall Read YouTube Channel and the Brain Friendly Reading™ YouTube Channel.
When you want to learn what to do and how to do it right away, attending a pre-recorded parent workshop targeted to your child's age is the most helpful thing to do. You will get access to free materials and see exactly what you need to do at home. If you have questions, you can always attend a virtual Monday night group coaching call.
WSR cosponsors workshops with community groups in SE Michigan. Most workshops are make-n-take events so parents and caregivers walk away with games to use at home. Schedule one for your school today.
Online community workshops are held periodically. Parents and caregivers download the materials and learn how to use them with their children. Q&A are always a part of these sessions.
Over 20% of children have characteristics of dyslexia- most are undiagnosed. The good news is that all struggling readers benefit from the same type of reading instruction! Helping struggling readers doesn't have to be hard or difficult. Contact us to schedule a workshop for your school, community center, non-profit group or library.
Learning all of the letter-sound connections is like knowing one's math facts. You don't expect a child to be good at math and not know their math facts quickly and accurately, do you? The same is true for all 44 sounds in the English language plus their many variations. Children learn those quickly and accurately by chart tapping.
Game play is what keeps learning to read fun! WSR supports games that provide for repeated word reading. While the skills and difficulty level vary, the games stay the same so parents and children know what to do and how to do it. Check out this free card deck that can be used for Go Fish, Memory, War or with a Game Board. On the We Shall Read YouTube Channel, look for the Raising Reading Rockstars videos that will teach you how to play the games. Free, easy and fun!
Learn more about what to do to help your K/1 child who is struggling. This even works for 2nd graders reading below grade level.
Does your child bring home sight words and you wonder what the best way to teach them is?
