"I would love to listen to your reading goals for your child and tell you about my multi sensory approach to teach your student how to be a confident reader through fun and games with phonics. I hold a M.S. in Therapeutic Recreation, which makes me the perfect person to have fun with your student while learning. My own children have provided me with the personal experience of working with active, distracted or struggling learners, so I can relate to parents and students on an emotional level and provide them with a low stress learning experience that translates back to the classroom. I also work with students new to learning English."

"Hello! I am a classroom teacher turned school librarian. Needless to say, I LOVE all things related to books, reading, writing and literacy. There is nothing more satisfying than teaching a child to read, and then watching their love of reading explode. During the past six years, I've worked with children of varying ages and ability levels in both elementary and secondary. I've seen the power a tutor can have in changing a child's life, and I am eager to bring Brain Friendly Reading to families on-line.

"I am passionate about using evidence-based instructional strategies to help children become proficient and confident readers. In addition to my specialized training in BFR, I hold an Education Specialist Degree in School Psychology. As a school psychologist, I conducted comprehensive assessments to support the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students receiving special education services. Many of those students had reading disabilities, providing me with extensive experience in supporting struggling readers. My combined experience will enable me to meet the specific and unique needs of your child. I look forward to partnering with you and your child on their journey toward reading success!"

"I first found Brain Friendly Reading as a homeschool mom of two struggling readers of my own. While implementing Brain Friendly Reading, I watched firsthand this program change the course in my children’s reading journeys in a way that the best curriculum, workbooks, apps, and shelves of readers never did. Now as a certified BFR Reading Interventionist it would be an honor to help your child along their journey to truly reading. I can’t wait to meet you both!"

"Learning to read is possible for every child. As a classroom teacher, homeschool mom, and tutor, I have been helping children learn to read for over 30 years. I am well acquainted with the unique advantages and struggles dyslexia presents. Brain-Friendly Reading is an easy-to-use program that can be implemented quickly. Not only can I help students, but I can also assist the adults who support them. Please don't hesitate to reach out for a phone conversation about how I can help your family."

“I am a mother of five grown children and six grandchildren. While my background is not in education, I bring a unique perspective to reading and dyslexic tutoring because I am dyslexic. I struggled with reading throughout childhood and most of my adult life until becoming aware that the science of reading can help one to develop the skills required to read and write. The Brain Friendly Reading program enabled me to acquire the skills I needed.
I am very passionate about this work because I did not get the reading help I needed until I became an adult. I had to heal from the emotional wounds I suffered during my own educational experiences so I can empathize with what you or your child are going through. Helping children to develop the skills they need to realize their potential gives me great joy. I absolutely love this work!”

“I am an educator who has privately tutored for the past seven years. For the six years before that I taught K-2. I hold a Masters in the Art of Teaching, Child Development (ZA), Integrated Science (DI) K-8, and Language Arts (BX) K-8. However, my proudest title is adding Brain Friendly Reading to my credentials. The strategies and structured literacy approach follow the science of reading and ensure success by layering very specific, explicitly taught learning goals. I am passionate about teaching and helping your child find confidence and success in reading.”

BFR™ INTERVENTIONIST
I offer reading instruction and intervention in both English and Hebrew, helping children build confidence, accuracy, and fluency in their reading.
As a proud mom of four and a certified Special Education teacher (K–12) with a Master’s degree in Learning and Cognitive Disabilities, I understand both the professional and personal sides of learning struggles. All four of my children have reading and/or math learning disabilities, so I know firsthand how overwhelming it can feel for both parents and children—and how powerful the right support can be.
With over 21 years of experience in both public and private schools, I use a structured, research-based approach that helps struggling readers make real progress. I have over 60 hours of Orton-Gillingham training, and becoming a Brain-Friendly Reading (BFR) interventionist has given me powerful tools to help my students grow into more confident, capable readers.
I continue my professional learning by attending conferences focused on reading intervention, so I can bring the most effective, up-to-date strategies to the children I work with.
I prefer working with students in person for English tutoring, and I offer online tutoring for Hebrew reading.
Accepting students in Farmington Hills, Southfield, West Bloomfield, and nearby Detroit-area communities.
Each tutor is trained in how to move your child up the ladder of reading, regardless of their age or ability.
Tutors follow a systematic phonics approach that is engaging for the child. It matches how the brain learns to read, so that even if your child has had highly quality evidence-based instruction at school, they will benefit from the Brain Friendly Reading™ Orton-Gillingham based approach.
Tutors typically work with children one or two times a week in 1-hour sessions that include both time with the child and time helping you to understand what to do in between sessions for maximum growth.
Every tutor is an independent contractor and not employed by WSR for tutoring services. They set their own rates and hours.
Contact individual tutors for availability and to schedule your first appointment.
