We Shall Read is proud to partner with non-profit and other organizations with literacy initiatives. We train staff and volunteers, as well as provide customizable support and development to help you achieve your literacy goals.
WSR will train your volunteers and staff using an evidence-based program that is straightforward for the adult to learn and engaging for children of all ages because it is based on multi-sensory activities and games. WSR provides long-term support services including on-line, live coaching.
We Shall Read is here to support your team in learning new tools to add to their toolbox based on the latest neuroscience about how children's brains learn to read. We know organizations have been working hard at helping children and our goal is to be that extra layer of long-term support to help the org achieve its objectives.
For non-profits in Michigan, WSR will customize a training package to meet your organization's needs. Our trainers are flexible and so are the many facets of the program we use. We provide a variety of customizations from a complete program if you are starting from scratch, to teaching you how to layer on a few high-impact instructional strategies that children (and even teens) enjoy.
The goal is to help children grow their reading abilities! Children engaged in play learn more quickly. The hallmark of our elementary program is the wide variety of easy-to-learn and fun-to-play reading games that are targeted to meet the specific skills needed for struggling readers. The WSR program is easy to learn and fun to implement, keeping volunteers and children coming back again and again.
We Shall Read can start training your staff and volunteers to become effective tutors in a few hours. Afterward, online videos and support material will be at their fingertips to learn more games and more strategies as they grow their tutoring skills over time. Children love variety and so do volunteer tutors. Ongoing education can keep volunteers engaged in the learning process right along with their students.
WSR provides all the necessary materials, games, sound charts, and handouts. The program is sequential and organized so volunteers have what they need when they need it.
Our goal is for your non-profit to be successful in their endeavors to help children advance on their path to fluent reading. We are committed to supporting you and your volunteers from program conception, through implementation and beyond. Our additional services can include screening children for placement, matching children with tutors, running tutoring centers with a trained staff person on-site to answer immediate questions, and assistance in developing content for marketing materials (e.g. how to describe the program to volunteers and parents).
We Shall Read works to build the reading community around the child, and that includes the home setting. WSR can help you provide parent and caregiver workshops by sharing activities and card games that anyone can play- siblings too! We know that family literacy is important to the child’s reading journey. Games play provides a low-stress way to grow reading skills when done regularly, not just for the child but for anyone else playing too. All human brains learn to read the same way- what works at 6 years old works at 16 and 60 too!
